Offline Update (OSU2 + OSU1) - Neverending loop

by HohnMcBone. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

Disclaimer: my Xbox took a pretty hard fall from about 3 or 4 feet to solid ground. that same day i was able to play as if nothing happened.

The next day, my Xbox asked for an offline update. I tried my given options at the time, restarting my xbox, powering on/off, wiping my games and apps and restore factory settings. I went to Xbox support and they advised me to do an offline update. I grabbed a USB stick, uploaded OSU2 file (unzipped and formatted to NFTS), then I uploaded OSU1... made some progress... then it got stuck to the offline update. I'm not sure how to fix ths. Any help?

A group art making tabletop game that was funded on Kickstarter?

by kittensInspired5. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

Hi! I can’t for the life of me remember the name of a really cool tabletop game I saw on Kickstarter maybe a year or so ago, thought somebody here might!

It was designed so a plain piece of paper was the “board” of the boardgame, and as a group you drew cards that instructed you how to draw and paint together on the paper.

Anybody remember what game that was??

Buying a code for a game on a different platform

by memewulf. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

Hey guys I am looking to buy Hollow Knight, and I have money in my amazon account to buy it. Only problem, when I looked for a 20 dollar amazon gift card, all of them were delivery only and none had the option for email delivery. So I looked for the game code for Hollow knight on amazon but only found switch codes for the game. Will the switch code work for steam?

Which board game would be great if it were made into an immersive VR game while still exactly adhering to the board game version rules?

by remember_my_settings. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

I've been exposed to VR gaming recently.
And somehow while playing VR game, I thought that, if Room 25 were to be remade into a VR game with just the graphic upgrade for immersion, but still using the same rules as the board game, it'd be very nice.
Then I thought that there might be a lot of board games that if it let you become the character, and walked on the board, with realistic graphics, it' be much better.
Some games heavily relied on the god eye view to play, but there are also still tons of games that won't. And some types of games immersion won't get affected by having the god eye view.
So out of sheer curiosity, I want to know what people here think about what game would be good if it were to be remade into VR game without changing its system and still played with the same rule as the board game.

Which game has a post-apocalyptic game with hex map

by paxmagnifica. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

I am trying to figure which game I am remembering playing from a few years ago.

The setting is post-apocalyptic (not zombies).

The board is a hex based map that has a main central city with several other cities (6?) around the board edge, along with some supply areas (hospital, etc...)

Areas of the board have "hazard" areas that I think were shaded or hashed with orange.

At the start of the game two city tokens are drawn to determine the order and location of the first two objectives, then when those are completed a third city is drawn to find the final location.

Sound familiar to anyone, or did I just dream up that game?

Why do people hate swtor

by JoshOg55. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

I loved the game from the time I played l. As a Star Wars and BioWare fan it gave me everything I wanted. Not to mention the best stories ( yes multiple) in any mmorpg I’ve played so far ( I just started ffxiv so we’ll see). What makes this game such a hated one

Do I need a silver/gold plan if I already own the premium game through steam for Table Topia?

by Digitizkilla. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

I have a premium game on steam, do I still need to buy a silver or gold plan to host that game?

Another shoutout to GOG Galaxy (and Playnite)

by 54nd24. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

Reason why I love it:

  1. I don't have to remember where I have certain game cause Uplay, Steam, Epic, Origin,, gog, humble are all connected to 1 place.
  2. There's option that autocloses launcher when you're done playing game that needs it. I really like that because I don't have to run any launchers in background.
  3. You can see uninstalled games. With 100s of games, it's difficult to keep track of games you own. Specially during corona when so many games are given out.

In future I'd like to see store integration. Since Steam, Epic, Origin, Uplay are all website based stores, it would be easy to integrate them in launcher.

I doubt Galaxy will do that because the only way they can make money from launcher is if you buy game on GOG. But maybe playnite will.

Games like Fantasy Empire

by JediSkilz. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, so apologies if I'm wrong. I just recalled a fun game called Fantasy Empire. I am playing it, I love it but it is so old and slow now. If anyone is familiar with it, could you recommend a newer game that's very similar?

Fury of Dracula Update: The Sea is Salty and so am I

by razazaz126. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

Thank you again for everyone who answered my questions about Fury of Dracula earlier this past week. The game arrived today and I played it with some of my friends. It seems really fun, I wouldn't know because I lost the game (as Dracula) during the first week.

For anyone who doesn't know it is a deduction game where the hunters try and pick up your trail as you move around Europe in secret turning people into vampires and such to take over. Normally this takes some degree of effort and planning on the part of the hunters. Normally.

In my game we were on Wednesday of the first week, so Turn 3 overall. The hunters have moved some and supplied themselves some, though have not picked up ANY part of my trail as they are in the greater continental Europe while I decided to start in the UK.

One of them just randomly goes, "I bet he started in the UK. It's off the beaten path and he wouldn't expect us to just randomly go there." Mind you none of us have ever played this game before. Yikes, ok, that was random but it's fine, they're not near the UK I can be long gone if they decide to investigate it.

Next players turn, "I use my event card, it lets me pick any two cities in the world and if they're in your trail you have to reveal them. I wanna see if you're in the UK." Double yikes, that's really not good. But ok let's not be hasty there's like 6 locations in the UK there's still a chance he won-

"My first choice is Liverpool."

I was currently in Liverpool.

There are like 50 different cities on the map and while the reason they thought I could have been in the UK was sound there were plenty of other corners I could have started in. So I have been revealed almost immediately to say this is catastrophic is an understatement. None of the hunters have any damage, they are now moving to box in the port cities and I have 0 event cards of my own because they've been lucky enough to never draw one during the night phase.

Alright this is very bad but the game isn't over yet, I can try and slip the net. I came from the north of the UK and I can't go back so I have to take to the English Channel, from there I can go to one of two seas and they can't know which one for sure so they'll have to spread wide to try and intercept me and that will be my chance to slip the net. In fact, once I make landfall I can use my Mislead power to remove that sea card from my trail and that way they'll never be able to confirm which way I we-

"Ok I use Money Trail, it lets me reveal one sea card, I pick the one you're currently on."

When it rains it pours. Alright. Again, I cannot go backward so I am stuck in the North Sea and forced to make landfall. At this point, only one of the hunters is close enough to intercept me but there are two ports I could have landed at, he has to guess the correct one.

Do I even need to say it?

Combat ensues. Alright, it's just one of them and its night time if I can resolve Escape as Bat I can fly two spaces away and make a break for it!

"I use my event card at the start of combat, it lets me move several spaces and if I can reach you I can join the combat."

He could, alright 2v1. It's ok though since it's still early in the game my Pride ability isn't active yet and I can immediately attempt escape. They both play cards so I have to pick which one to fight, I do, and attempt escape as bat. They both flip over Holy Circle, a card that automatically counters any card I play no matter what. I never had a chance. The rest of the hunters pile in and finish me off just before the end of the first week.

It was quite a first game to be sure, one I will not forget! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little salty, but I can laugh at myself too. I could have played better at the end but by that point, I felt obliged to lean into the absurdity. Thanks again for advising me about the game guys, I wanted to share the ridiculous story of what came of it!

Can I get a refund for a game, then activate a code for it?

by GREE-IS-A-HEXAGON. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

So I bought a game, but then my brother gave me a code for the same game for my birthday (not knowing I already have it). I haven't installed the copy I bought yet. Will I be able to get a refund on my version, then activate the gifted code and get the game for free? I already tried activating the code but it just said it's already in my library. Didn't know if that would mess things up. Cheers

I have a pretty sweet gamertag that I've owned for about 12 years. But I no longer play xbox. Anyway to give the gamertag away or possibly even sell it?

by MericRL. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

It is a 5 letter word GT and if selling it is against TOS, then I'd be willing to give it away. Cheers!

Content restrictions not working properly need help

by NuttyMoss97. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

I recently looked in my Xbox 360 and I found that I owned Crysis 3. I tried to play it but it was apparently restricted under family settings and I couldn’t remember the password so I downloaded it on my Xbox one. When I tried to play it, it also said it was above my content restrictions. Considering I don’t have any content restrictions, this is annoying because I have to input a long password every time I want to play the game. Is anyone able to help? Btw I have access to one of my parents accounts and this is all fine with them.

Just finished playing Dead Space and Dead Space 2 back to back, for the first time, and I have some thoughts.

by MissingLemur. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

It took me about nine hours to finish each game, on the "normal" difficulty, and I enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Throughout each game, I constantly had moments where the atmosphere was so fantastically creepy, that I would just have to utter aloud "Well fuck, I hate this" (especially any moments where there were any variants of a necromorph child/baby). I was on the edge of my seat my entire playthrough, and every time I took a break, I couldn't wait to get back at it.

Coming fresh off of playing them back to back, I think I have to say that Dead Space 2 is the better game. I think it improves on the original in almost every way, and I especially like the choice to have a Isaac become an actual voiced character with a personality. The biggest surprise in the second one was actually how funny I found the moments of levity, Dead Space 2 is a deceptively funny game. Moments like being back on the Ishimura, and Ellie calls to warn you that the necromorphs are boarding the ship, while you're in the middle of fighting for your life and Isaac just exasperatedly responds "I KNOW, I'll call you back!" really made me chuckle. I loved the dynamic between Ellie and Isaac, I really got attached to her by the end.

I think my favourite part of the game would have to be when you return to the Ishimura, and playing the second game immediately after the first actually made me appreciate the attention to detail the developers gave that stage. I was having vivid flashbacks to what I was doing in every room in the first game, it honestly felt like low level PTSD at points lol.

All in all, I'm really glad I finally played these two games. I'm not sure I'll try a replay on a harder difficulty, I think I got the intended horror experience out of this playthrough.

I have just started DS3, and I'm about an hour or so in (I just found Ellie, she's dating this schmuck, WTF?), and I'm not sure how I feel about the new atmosphere. It definitely seems way more action oriented, and I'm not sure I dig it.

Anyways, that pretty much sums up my experience, if you guys wanna share your thoughts on the games, maybe favourite memories from the first two, lemme know! I'd also like to know whether the 3rd is worth finishing, or if I can leave the story wrapped up nicely in my head as Ellie and Isaac just escaped from the Sprawl and lived happily ever after lol.

by Druryb32. Posted on Jun 05, 2020

Anyone have any suggestions about improving WiFi connection for playing games online. I keep losing connection and getting kicked from games. One round it connects fine next one lagg like crazy then get kicked. I live in an apartment in someone many house and my cable/internet is included so I don’t have access to the router to run a hard wire. I constantly have to text landlord to reboot modem. Also I generally have minimal issues with other devices just Xbox

Anyone have any ideas?
