I've just spent £2,000 on a new gaming PC. What flagship games have I missed out on in the last 3 years?

I used to be pretty heavy on PC gaming but found myself in a bad place for a few years and sold my PC along with various other possessions. This month, I've finally bought a banging PC but have no idea what games are worth getting because of how long it's been. What AAA games have I missed?

You came back just in time for Death Stranding, the strangest delivery game ever made.

Escape from tarkov is the most unique PC game out right now. If you can stand a punishing difficult game, give it a try

EDIT: game is definitely in EA and has a long way to go to completion. i would watch some videos and reviews (that are recent so they are up to date) and see if you're interested. you can't get a refund so make sure you are interested in the game before buying.

You should probably add that it's still in beta, to give them a heads up before going in and expecting a balanced experience.

and pay to win

gotbeefpudding 1

yeah i joke about it being p2w with my friend all the time.

the most expensive version definitely makes looting and the overall start experience better, BUT it's not going to make you suddenly win fights you wouldn't.

personally im not a fan of them selling editions that increase stash size, but it doesn't put me off from supporting them.

i recognize others may not feel the same and i completely understand why, and respect it as well.

i will definitely edit my comment, thank you.

also how do you feel about its current state?

BigJuice93 2

I have mixed feelings, to be honest. The new update seems to leave good impressions, but my biggest gripe are the quality of the servers still. Such ambitious gameplay needs to have a rock solid foundation in order to have the best effect in my opinion. I understand that BSG is a rather small company, and I respect the dedication. EFT is one of a kind and I'm very excited for when it reaches a more polished state, but for now I'm going to be watching from the bleachers instead of playing.

gotbeefpudding 1

thats fair i get where you're coming from.

this is my first wipe so im addicted at the moment

BigJuice93 1

Enjoy your time in Tarkov!

gotbeefpudding 1

Thanks man. Currently getting my ass kicked from the Jaeger quests lmao. He's a fat selfish bastard

The three classics

Mount and Blade: Warband/Bannerlord

Monster Hunter World

Edit- I will note, this game was built with controller in mind, I specifically bought an 8bitdo SN30 pro to play this game, great wireless controller, but L2/R2 are buttons, not pressure triggers, so no good for racing games

Violentgoth 2

Only because no one has mentioned it so far, No Man's Sky just had another huge free update and is an amazing game. Might be worth looking at a few up to date reviews as it was awful at launch but hello games have more than made up for that now.

stratcat22 1

I would love to try and get into NMS again. I played it on Xbox for a bit a couple years ago and it was alright. I played it on my pc last year and it was better, but still alright. The game has always felt too repetitive to me.

Yrahcaz256 1

Definitely worth it to jump back in with the content they've added. I was thr same as you, now I can't stop playing it.

OnCruiseCtrl 6

If you haven't played Witcher 3 yet on ultra, go right ahead and do that.

If you're not too keen on catching up with others, Monster Hunter World + Iceborne is a fun game once you get into the hang of things. Playable alone and with a group.

Apart from the very active community, it looks phenomenal.

For great single player experiences, I highly recommend the Resident Evil Remakes and Control.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently the king when it comes to pushing graphical limits. Has a really long campaign to boot if you take your time exploring.

You didn't really miss out on too much in the last three years.

But I'd say you have a lot to catch up on with the amount of releases in that period.

Personally recommend Red Dead 2, Death Stranding to try out DLSS 2.0 and Modern Warfare cause its weirdly good on PC.

Alphabetical and everything!

OnkelJupp 5

Very good list, maybe get Xbox Game Pass OP. Some of the titles listed here are part of it!

boi156 2

Just be aware that with gamepass, consider it as you are renting the games

Diridibindy 2

What's the difference between that and buying on steam or other markets that are not GOG?

RookLive 3

Gamepass is a subscription like Netflix, so as soon as you stop paying the subscription or the game drops off game pass it's gone.

Pyrite19 2

Pirate them!!!

Diridibindy 3

You really don't need to play a second time for most of the games and you get them for much cheaper that way.

RookLive 2

I just like playing the stuff I would probably never pay for but think might be interesting. Plague Tale during a pandemic was a great example of that.

Lastnv 7

Monster Hunter World is good too.

ChiTownKid99 10

Rdr2 on PC is a whole new experience disco Elysium is top notch as well divinity original sin 2 is also amazing

Phimb 3

Disco Elysium is so good.

MisterZiggs 5

Cmon we want to know the sepcs. I would recommend Rise of the Tomb Raider.

FallenAdvocate 6

Doom Eternal is always going to be a recommendation from me. I've also been playing a lot of Squad, if you like online multiplayer games, and Escape from Tarkov, which probably has a steep learning curve but can be a lot of fun

Edit: Sekiro was also good, I didn't enjoy it as much as the souls games personally but it's still good. And I know the 2 Ori games aren't real heavy hitters, but the 2nd game was one of my favorites. It came out around the same time as Doom Eternal and as much as I loved it, I think I liked Ori and the Will of the Wisps more. Really good game if you're into platformers.

roto_disc 9

What kinds of games did you like three years ago?

  Joshyboy28 4

I love all sorts. I have at least 6 eons on Skyrim and used to play a lot of Minecraft. I love any FPS games, adventure games, simulation games, sandbox games, you name it and I'll probably like it.

slippppy99 5

You should look into total war warhammer 2, gonna look juicy with mods and reshade with 100+ fps
