Spooky games that break the fourth wall

I love when games break the fourth wall. There are few things in games that make me feel dread in that similar way. I wanted to reach out to ask if any of you have any spooky games that give you that real world fear rather than just some cheap jump scares. Games I've already played that have played with this idea include Pony Island, Undertale, Doki Doki, and most recently, No Players Online. I appreciate any recommendations you have! Have a great rest of your week!

Best I've seen so far is Psychomantis fight in Metal Gear Solid. It still blows my mind.

Friends have wanted me to play metal gear for way too long. Will check this out! Thanks!

I reccomend it if you haven't played! Definitely not what it seems...

The Stanley Parable is mainly humorous but definitely gets a bit spooky in parts. Have you played it? Definitely one of the best fourth-wall-breaking games ever made.

I haven't played it for such a long time now. I will revisit it! Thanks!

Play with Me: Esacpe room and The Impossible

Never heard of them! Thanks for sharing. I'll check these out.

Lost in Vivo definitely does this at times but it isn't an outright feature and I don't want to spoil it. Basically if you are looking for a silent hill esque game try this.

You have no idea how much I appreciate you avoiding spoilers! Adding this to the list right now. Thank you!

Layers of Fear is a great scary game which doesn’t rely on jump scares. Soma is also worth a look.

Can't remember if I watched a youtuber play it, but I'll look again. Thanks!

When the darkness comes which is free on steam, a little more corny than its peers, but I still thought it was an enjoyable experience

I'll check it out! Thanks!

Old game on GameCube. Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. Could just play it on Dolphin and upscale to 4K.

I've only read about this one. Splashing you to the gamecube screen, sometimes your players head falls off at random, etc. So wild. I'll check it out! Thank you!

Eternal Darkness really was such an ambitious game. I'd love to see a modern take, because the sanity tricks just aren't relevant to current technology.

Try the Hex. Made by the same people who made Pony Island.

LETS GO. I had no idea they had another game. I'm so stoked for this one. Thank you!

Yeah, this. I played it thinking it was just a fun commentary on different game genres, but it starts breaking the fourth wall and getting creepy towards the end
