Xbox one to iMac

I recently got our old Xbox one up and running again, and my wife wants to play GTA V together. We don’t have 2 TVs but we do have a TV and an iMac. I ordered an adapter but it turns out it was the wrong direction. I have been searching for a while and I cannot find a cable/ adapter that will convert the HDMI signal to mini display for my 2009 iMac. Does anyone on here know of a cable that would do the trick?

iMacs are computers, locked down ones at that. Not monitors.

They have their advantages, but if you want that kind of flexibility with your hardware, you need to avoid Apple.

You can’t do that dude.

So, if you have a late 2009 iMac, this should actually be possible, due to the introduction of Target Display Mode

1) I think you need to change your Xbox resolution to 720 first
2) if it doesn’t automatically switch over, try pressing CMD+F2

For everyone else that may wanna try on their iMacs, I believe this was restricted to Thunderbolt-only inputs (aka other Macs) 2011-2014 models, then completely removed thereafter
